Miss Teen Rodeo Illinois 2017 Kelsie Steckel

Kelsie is the 16-year-old daughter of Greg and Cathy Steckel of Carrollton, Ill. She is a junior at Carrollton High School where she was awarded the Student Good Citizen Award and is a part of her FFA Chapter Horse Judging Team. Once Graduated, Kelsie plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in the medical field. She enjoys competing in the Illinois Paint Horse Association, Missouri Paint Horse Association, as well as local county fairs. Her favorite events to compete in are Hunter Under Saddle and Hunter Equitation. Kelsiel is very active in the Mid River Saddle Club where she has won many awards including Reserve Champion Junior Horse Walk-Trot, Reserve Champion Hunter Under Saddle (HUS), Reserve Champion HUS Equitation, Reserve Champion 2-year and Under Halter Futurity, Champion Western Pleasure Junior Horse, High Point Youth. She also enjoys barrel racing, pole bending, as well as working the roping shoot for her dad when he practices team roping at their home. She also won the Illinois Barrel and Pole Winter Series Year End Champion.

Kelsie will travel throughout the state and the U.S. to PRCA rodeos promoting the state of Illinois and the sport of professional rodeo through 2017.

Carrollton, Ill., January 2, 2017– Kelsie Steckel  - of Carrollton, Ill. was named Miss Teen Rodeo Illinois 2017 Lady in Waiting after she competed for the title this past Labor Day in the Miss Rodeo Illinois Pageant in Palestine, Ill. in conjunction with the Pioneer City Rodeo. On January 1, 2017 she will take reign as Miss Teen Rodeo Illinois 2017.

Kelsie will travel throughout the state and the U.S. to PRCA rodeos promoting the state of Illinois and the sport of professional rodeo through 2017. To offset her expenses, she will be conducting a few fund raisers to support her travels and ambassadorship. Her first fund raiser will be her Coronation Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the KC Hall in Carrollton featuring dinner, dance, and social hour. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door. Please make checks payable to Miss Teen Rodeo Illinois 2017 and mail to 229 Zimmerman Rd., Metamora, IL 61548. Those who are unable to attend but would like to support Kelsie, may make donations.
