Miss Teen Rodeo Illinois 2013 Mikhayla DeMott

Mikhayla DeMott of Rio is the daughter of Mike and Robin DeMott. She is a 17 year old junior at ROWVA High School. Mikhayla is active in her high school color guard and varsity basketball team as well as FFA and student council. She is active in the Woodhull Harvest Bible Church youth group and the Cluster Weekend Christian youth retreat as a team leader. She is the student president of the Illinois High School Rodeo Association. She competes in break-away roping, cutting, pole bending, goat tying, barrel racing and team roping as a heeler.

She was recipient of the Illinois Principals Association Outstanding Student and School Citizen award, National FFA Section Winner for Outdoor Recreation, Wrangler Division 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 Wrangler All-Star Rodeo Team, 2010-2011 National High School Rodeo Cinch All-Star Rodeo Team. She plans to pursue a career in health care and continue to compete in collegiate and professional rodeo.

Mikhayla is a member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA), Better Barrel Races (BBR), United Barrel Racing Association (UBRA), Illinois High School Rodeo Association (IHSRA), Illinois Quarter Horse Association (IQHA) Illinois Ranch Horse Association (IRHA), National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), and the Northern Illinois Cutting Horse Association (NICHA).

She was awarded Horse of the Year 2008-2009 Wrangler Division AQHA scholarship, Wrangler Division Reserve All-Around Champion 2008-2009, Year-end Wrangler Division Barrel Racing Champion 2008-2009. In 2009-2010, she was a High School Rodeo State Finals Qualifier in Goat Tying, Pole bending, Barrel Racing, and Team Roping as well as a National Qualifier in Barrel Racing. In 2010-2011, she was a State finals Qualifier in four events as well as a National Qualifier in Barrel Racing and Cutting.

“I am truly blessed to be serving as the first Illinois Miss Teen Rodeo. It is an honor and a dream come true to be representing Professional Rodeo and the western way of life. By holding this title, I will not only gain many assets towards my future but, experience numerous opportunities that would benefit me in the years to come.”
